John Harbot – Managing Director & Portfolio Manager:
John is responsible for managing Ubique as well as being our Portfolio Manager. He has over 25 years experience across funds management, stockbroking and business roles in listed Australian corporations.
Prior to founding Ubique, John was responsible for managing over $2bn within the Australian Share Fund strategy at Perpetual Investments (from July 2008 to March 2011).
His portfolio management experience spans both large and small caps, having also served as a Smaller Companies Portfolio Manager at Perpetual (September 2006 to June 2008) and prior to that, Paradice Investment Management (January 2004 to September 2006).
Prior to Paradice, John worked as a small to mid-cap industrial analyst at two boutique stockbrokers; Austock and Lodge Partners.
John joined the finance industry later in his career, having worked in business and operational roles at Toll Holdings, ICI Explosives (now Orica) and Pacific Dunlop.
John is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon and holds a Master of Science, Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from FINSIA.
Martin Kleindyk – Director & Senior Analyst:
Martin is a co-founder of Ubique and has over 20 years experience in the finance industry.
Prior to Ubique, Martin worked for four years as an Industrial Equities Analyst at Argo Investments Limited. Whilst at Argo, Martin was responsible for covering a broad range of companies within the food & beverage, telecommunications, chemicals, building materials, developers & contractors and retail sectors.
Prior to Argo, Martin worked in Institutional research sales for five years at LINWAR Securities, a boutique stockbroker that specialises in covering small to mid-cap Australian companies. Prior to LINWAR, Martin worked at Lodge Partners and Merrill Lynch in research sales and investment banking.
Martin started his career at Tyndall Funds Management as a Trust Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance & Accounting double major) from the University of Technology Sydney, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from FINSIA.
John and Martin have known each other for 10 years, having met when they worked together at Lodge Partners in Sydney.
Andrew Sullivan – Equities Analyst:
Andrew joined Ubique in January 2015 as an Equities Analyst covering the Resources Sector and became a shareholder of Ubique in November 2017. He has over 20 years experience in the mining sector, spanning roles in research, consulting and engineering / construction.
Prior to Ubique, Andrew worked as a Senior Resources Analyst at Macquarie Securities where he was the lead analyst for a number of ASX100 Mining Companies spanning the gold, copper, alumina/ aluminium, coal and mineral sands sectors, as well as supporting the coverage of large cap diversified miners BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.
Prior to his role at Macquarie, Andrew worked as a Resources Analyst at both Shaw Stockbroking and BBY, where he focussed predominantly on the coverage of smaller mining companies.
Andrew entered the finance industry after gaining commercial experience as a Senior Project Development Engineer and Process Engineer with Sedgman Limited. Andrew joined Sedgman from HATCH Associates, where he worked as a Chemicals Engineer after graduating from the University of Queensland.
Andrew holds a Master of International Economics and Finance, Bachelor of Business Management and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, all of which were gained from the University of Queensland.
Robert Freeman – Equities Analyst:
Robert joined Ubique in October 2019 as an Equities Analyst, principally covering the Consumer, REIT and Healthcare sectors. He has over 15 years experience in the finance sector and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007.
Prior to joining Ubique, Robert worked as a Senior Analyst at Macquarie Securities where he was the lead analyst for a number of ASX200 Industrial Companies across the Consumer Staples, Consumer Discretionary and REIT sectors.
Prior to joining Macquarie in 2011, Robert worked as an Associate Analyst at RBS Australia & Nomura, where he focussed predominantly on the coverage of ASX listed Retail, Food and Beverage companies.
Robert started his career at Deloitte Corporate Finance in 2005, completing a graduate program before moving permanently into the company valuations team.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Accounting major) from the University of Sydney as well as a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia.
